A simple rule for life

“Here’s a simple rule for life. Ask yourself, “What do I want others to do for me?” Then take the initiative, go out and do those very things for other people. This is truly God’s laws in action.” (Matthew 7: 12, my paraphrase)

I love the word initiative. I think we can spend far too much time waiting around for life to do us a favour. The trouble is that life honestly won’t do us any favours! God took the initiative in reaching out to the world in love, and He is looking for followers who will take the initiative in lovingly reaching to others. God’s wants people who will take the initiative in changing the world, for good (extending God’s kingdom).

Will we take the initiative needed to change the world, and in God’s strength go out and start to make it happen?
