15 John – Joined to Jesus

John 15 is all about being joined to Jesus. John also talks about being at home with Jesus. Jesus wants us to be joined to him in life and in death.

In life: His teaching must become the teachings that we live by. His family (the local church) must become our family. We are called to show a “Jesus kind of love” to others. Our prayer life needs to be bathed in the knowledge of Jesus so that our prayers correspond with his desires and activities. We must be willing to be shaped and pruned by the master gardener.

In death: There’s also the reality in this passage that if we are united with Jesus in life we will sometimes be called on to suffer hatred and maybe even death for his name. For, if they hated and killed Jesus and he’s living within us, how can we expect any different?
