16 John – The Holy Spirit

Jesus promises us that when he returns to have he will send the Holy Spirit, “the friend”. The Spirit’s task will be to “honour Jesus” and he will be at work to convict the world that their “Refusal to believe in [Jesus] is their basic sin.”

When we look at the words of Jesus in John 16 there is an undeniable centrality to Jesus. The Father has given “everything” to Jesus. The Holy Spirit’s job is Christ-centred.

I think that one of the ways that we can tell the Holy Spirit’s at work in our lives, or in the church community, is that we have this growing Christ-centred focus. EVERYTHING builds off of Jesus.
